Anyone for cake covered in spit?
I’ve featured various quotes at the beginning of chapters in my upcoming novel, FAST FORWARD. All of them relate to the themes in the book; ageing, beauty, birthdays, family, and following your dreams. Some are funny, some are heartfelt, and here is one of them:
If you can’t read it (yes you – reaching for your glasses! …It turned out smaller than I thought), it says:
‘Why is a birthday cake the only food you can blow on and spit on and everybody rushes to get a piece?’ ~ Bobby Kelton
The cake in this picture was made by yours truly for my son’s 16th birthday last week – gluten free red velvet cake complete with dripping wax and droplets of spittle – yum! 😉
By the way, if you missed the previous picture quote from Fast Forward, here it is.
Stay tuned for more! 🙂

LOL that quote is so true. I actually boycotted birthday cakes some time ago for this reason (and for the reason of candles and house fires)
and the older you get the more spit required and the more candles & smoke! 😉
Yeah it is pretty disguesting when you think about it! Hope son had a good birthday 🙂
Thanks Kez, he did!
Hi Juliet,
My sister has just published her non fiction mining book! How do you get it on good reads? It says a librarian needs to do it?
Just trying to help her spread the word 🙂
Can’t wait to read yours!! Well, again 🙂

HI Rebecca,
I was able to put mine up and I’m not a librarian. Just do a search for the title of the book (even if nothing comes up), then on the right side it will say ‘manually add book’, then just follow the instructions and upload a picture. Let me know if you have any trouble! 🙂
